High Impact' Skill-Bases Language Learning Featuring TPR
The 90-minute presentation will focus on specific elements of the New England Language Center's unique approach to foreign language instruction. Emphasis is on the employment of “high impact” rapid-fire drilling, relentless repetition, and total physical response (TPR) techniques. The exclusive goal in the early stages of language instruction is for the student to build and totally master a solid base of practical vocabulary and basic structures. This is done without a textbook and with student accountability measured on a daily basis through at least 75 interactions per student per class. The result is that students develop an ability to speak and understand very quickly within the scope of their learned vocabulary. As new vocabulary is introduced, the entire body of learned vocabulary continues to be practiced on a daily basis so that the student is in a continuous state of “readiness.” The program will include a live interactive demonstration of the teaching methods.
