You’re invited to a Russian Tea !

Rochester, NH. On Saturday,  January 19th, local artist, historian and educator Marina Forbes will host a traditional Russian tea party at the at The New England Language Center Art Gallery (16 Hillside Drive in Rochester, NHin Rochester, NH. The party will start at 1pm, is free, and is open to anyone interested in finding out about her annual cultural tour to Russia. Marina is a native of St. Petersburg, Russia. She is a traditional Russian artist and icon painter, is licensed by the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, and offers between 75 and 100 lectures, workshops and presentations each year on Russian arts and culture. Her tour groups normally include between three and six participants and can be tailored to address the specific interests of the group. The limited size of the tour group also provides an opportunity for participants to meet and visit with a broad range of “real Russians,” including artists, scholars, politicians, journalists, educators, students, entrepreneurs, etc. There will also be a number of activities and cultural events designed to give tour participants an opportunity to experience first-hand the reality of everyday life in Russia. This will be the 25th year that Marina has offered this unique and highly customized tour. The tea party will provide an opportunity to discuss the details about Marina’s 2019 tour. The 11-day tour is scheduled for the spring/summer of 2019 and includes visits to St. Petersburg, the ancient city of Novgorod, and Moscow during the season of “White Nights” when St. Petersburg is bathed in 24 hours of continuous daylight.

This year, after the regular tour to Russia, some people are interested in traveling to Siberia and the Ural mountains where we'll be visiting the cities of Perm and Ekaterinburg. The Ural Mountains gave enormous inspiration to the famous Russian jewelry maker, Faberge, who had the biggest collection of Russian precious and semi-precious stones from Siberia. It is so much fun to go to the local jewelry stores and see the fabulous wearable art of the local craftsmen. From Perm will go to Ekaterinburg by train on famous Trans-Siberian Rail Road!

Anyone wanting to attend the free ‘no obligation” Russian tea party on January 18th should contact Marina Forbes at (603) 332.2255 or by e-mail at marina@anylanguage.org.
